Song: Muhobat Aisi Dhadkan Hai, Jo Samzaai Nahi Jaati
Film: Anarkali (1953)
Music: Ramchandra Chitalkar
Lyrics: Shailendra
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Pradeep Kumar, Bina Rai
This song has following opening lines
Dil Ki Lagi Hai Kya Ye Kabhi, Aansu Bahaa Ke Dekh
Kabhi Muskaraa Ke Dekh
Parawaana Jal Rahaa Hai, Magar Jal Raha Hai Kaya
Ye Raaz Jaananaa Hai To Khud To Jalaa Ke Dekh
One of the most beautiful song from the film. In fact all songs
are great great songs. I remember, that day in 1974/5 when I was
talking about Mughal-E-Azam songs (I had just seen the movie,
then) and my father told me: 'This is nothing, you should check,
how lovely are songs from Anarkali ?' He never underrated K
Asif's version - direction or acting, but would never allow songs
to surpass Anarkali's magical heights. Few days later I heard
this song. My whole perception was changed. It moved one entire
plane. It was altogether a new and very high dimension. Look at
any song from the film, you can never forget it.
Here are other gems of Lata, I always love (and remember right
now)
Ye Zindagi Usi Ki Hai, Jo Kisi Ka Ho Gaya, Pyaar Hi Me
Kho Gaya
(Rajenra
Krishna)
Aja Ab To Aaja, Meri Qismat Ke Kharidaar Ab To Aaja
(Rajendra
Krishna)
Dua Kar Gham-E-Dil Khuda Se Dua Kar
(Shailendra)
O Aasmaan Waale Shiqvaa Hai Zindgi Ka
which starts with following couplet by poet Hasrat Jaipuri:
Ik Intezaar-E-Shouk Ko Jalavon Ki Aas Hai
Ik Shamaa Jal Rahi Hai, Ik Ro Ro Kar Udaas Hai
And then who can forget that stunning Hemant-Lata performance in
Jaag Dar-E-Ishq Jaag, Dil Ko Beqaraar Kar (Rajendra
Krishna)
And we have two solos by Hemant Kumar to enjoy too:
Zindagi Pyaar Ki Do Chaar Ghadi Hoti Hai
Chaahe Todi Bhi Ho Ye ???? Badi Hoti Hai
and Ai Baad-E-Saba Ahista Chal
I read somewhere that this song was composed by Hemant-da
himself, as CR was too busy and Hemant, as second music director
of Filmistan, working under him used to assist him, then.
Finally a grand treat by Geeta Roy and the only song composed by
Basant Prakash for the film: Aa Jaan-E-Wafa. Very appealing
number. The urge Geeta conveys in her singing is unmatched by any
of the other songs above.
