HEREBY RECONVENING THE ATMJH SERIES !!

Bolstered by the one response I got to my earlier post about this
today,  I  decided to go ahead... I'm resuming the numbering from
where Snehal left.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Today (Feb 23) marks the 29th death anniversary of screen  legend
Madhubala,   whose  65th  BIRTH  anniversary  passed earlier this
month (on  Valentine's Day). On this and the next  ATMJH,    I'll
post  a  couple of her lesser known, but beautiful songs...  as a
tribute to the Venus of the Indian Screen.

#309
Song:   Woh Raat Din Woh Shaam Ki
                Guzri Hui Kahaaniyaan
Jaa Tere Ghar Mein Chhod Di
                Pyaar Ki Sab Nishaaniyaan

        Film:   Saiyan (1951)
        Music:  Sajjad
        Lyrics: D.N.Madhok
        Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
        *ing:   Madhubala, Ajit, Sajjan

Some discussion was generated on RMIM a few months ago about  the
'unrecognized' genius of composer Sajjad Hussain. This movie(which
incidentally,  is  quite  unusual  and very watchable) provides a
perfect showcase for Sajjad's enormous talent.

My personal favorite from this movie is the incomparable
        'Kaali Kaali Raat Re
         Dil Bada Sataaye
         Teri Yaad Aaye'
                by Lata Mangeshkar.

Each song in this movie is excellent- the other Lata  songs  that
figure in the movie (all of them picturized on Madhubala) are
        'Khayaalon Mein Tum Ho
Nazaaron Mein Tum Ho'  -  an  impossible-to-sing  number
picturized on a dream sequence,
'Qismat Mein Khushi Ka Naam Nahin
Do  Din  Bhi  Humen  Aaram  Nahin',   another  soulfully
melodious track, and finally, the more popular -
        'Hawa Mein Dil Dole
         Machal kar boley
         Daras dikhla de
         Balam bholey bholey'

In addition to these Lata gems, there is an extremely catchy Rafi
number :
'Us Paar Is Deewar Ke Jo Rehte Hain
Koi Keh De Unse Jaake Jo  Hum  Kehte  Hain',  filmed  on
Sajjan.   and  finally,  the  omnipresent  Cuckoo comes in with a
unusually-worded Shamshad number 'Meri Jaan Mohabbat Karo  Chupke
Chupke'.

In short, a veritable musical treasure.
