        Song:   Panchhi banoon udti phiroon
                Mast gagan mein
                Aaj main azaad hoon
                Duniya ke chaman mein

        Film:   Chori Chori (1956)
        Music:  Shankar Jaikishen
        Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, chorus
        *ing:   Nargis, Raj Kapoor

One of the popular ones, from the first Indian  remake  of  Frank
Capra's  1934  classic  'It  Happened  One Night' (starring Clark
Gable and Claudette Colbert), remade by Mahesh Bhatt in  1991  as
'Dil  hai ke manta nahin'.  (Am I factually correct here, or were
there any more remakes ?)

This jubilantly  melodious  piece  evinces  a  perfect  chemistry
between  the  tune and the words of the song - one can *feel* the
joy of liberation and new-found freedom in  its  ecstatic  notes,
and  Lata's  rendition  brings  forth  the  sentiment  even  more
emphatically. The song is very refreshing- it  exudes  happiness.
And  it  always  manages  to cheer me up. The antaraas especially
have been composed and sung beautifully  -  rather  high-pitched,
with peppy lyrics. Check the first one -

        'Mere jeevan mein chamka saveraa
O mita dil se woh gham ka andheraa
Harey kheton mein gaaye koi lehraa
Yahaan din par kisi ka na pehraa...'etc.

Happy happy happy... I love it !

The movie, of course, is another SJ treasure. Following up on the
recent  Lata-Asha-duets  thread on RMIM, there is a lovely one in
this movie too -

        'Manbhaavan ke ghar jaaye gori
         Ghunghat mein sharmaaye gori
Bandhi rahe yeh pyaar ki dori
Hamen na bhulaana, hamen na bhulaana'
