Song:   Milaa hai kisi ka jhumka
Thande thande hare hare neem taley
                Sachhe moti waala jhumka
Thande thande hare hare neem taley

        Film:   Parakh (1960)
        Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
        Music:  Salil Chowdhury
        Lyrics: Shailendra
        *ing:   Sadhana, ?

Music director Salil Chowdhury's 3rd death anniversary passed  on
Saturday, September 5. A couple of his melodies, in memoriam.

A fairly popular, oft-heard tune to start off... but one that I'm
too  fond  of  to  pass up. I couldn't possibly pay my tribute to
Salilda without mentioning this song. Right from the moment  when
Lata  starts  off,  in  a  soft,  almost  whispering voice, as it
travels through a vibrant whirl of notes in the antaraas, as in :
jeevan bhar ka naata pardesiyon se jodaa
aap gaye piyaa sang mujhe yahaan chhodaa
        padaa hai akela jhumka..
(..my  favorite  antaraa)  and  on  to the almost
abrupt end, this song is a treat to the ears and mind.  And  eyes
too,  though  it's  been  a long time since I saw this song ; the
vision of a lovely-looking Sadhana, sitting  under  a  tree  (was
it?)  staring curiously at the 'jhumka' in question while singing
this, is charming no end.

IIRC this song featured in Lata's "My Favorites" compilation that
was  released  by HMV. I'm glad she chose this one over it's more
popular cousin from the same  movie-  "O  sajanaa  barkha  bahaar
aayi..", which for some reason, I'm not really too crazy about.
