RMIM ke bhaio aur baheno,

This is #24 of a series based on the famous Vividh Bharathi radio program
"Chhaya Geet" in which songs based on a particular theme are played.

This series serves to corroborate the "Naushad fan postulate" which states
that for every REAL life situation, there exists atleast one REAL song which
can be sung in your IMAGINARY world ! :-) This series is also a small tribute
to my favourite Vividh Bharathi announcer and Chhaya Geet hostess Kanta Gupta.

CHHAYA GEET #24

TODAY'S SITUATION/THEME: Often one hears songs in Hindi film which have no
relevance to the real world at all. They are either too idealistic or too damn
stupid to be true. Songs such as "Main duniya bhuladunga teri chahat me..."
just indicate how unrealistic the lyrics can get. But then again, films are
meant for entertainment and needn't necessarily depict real life scenarios.
However, there are quite a few songs which are very down to earth and get
quite close to the REAL WORLD situations. To counter the "Main duniya
bhuladunga ...." type of claims, we also have excellent lines such as "Bhook
aur pyaas ki maari hui is duniya me, ishq hi ek haqeequat nahin kuch aur bhi
hai..." (from "Tum mujhe bhool bhi jaao to ye haq hai tumko..."  )

Ye ajeeb baat hai! Bewafa ko janaab dua de rahen hain.... here's a better

5a: The film world:

This is a very common scene in films. The hero about to leave the heroine due
to some "majboori". It is my (cynical!) view that the dude actually wants to
stay, and hopes that she'll call him back. Here's the most "honest" song from
Hindi films:

5b: The real world:

Hmm, main ye sonchkar us ke dar se uTHa thha
Ke woh rok legi, manalegi mujhko
Hawaaon me lehraata aata thha daaman

Now, now. There's no need for such pessimism either!
