This is #30 of a series based on the famous Vividh Bharathi radio program
"Chhaya Geet" in which songs based on a particular theme are played.

This series serves to corroborate the "Naushad fan postulate" which states
that for every REAL life situation, there exists atleast one REAL song which
can be sung in your IMAGINARY world ! :-) This series is also a small tribute
to my favourite Vividh Bharathi announcer and Chhaya Geet hostess Kanta Gupta.

CHHAYA GEET #30

TODAY'S SITUATION/THEME: Hmm, wondering what MR stands for ? Well, it's got
nothing to do with ER, the popular NBC (or is it ABC) series. Most of you must
be familiar with MR if you own a calculator. If you own one of those "auto
power off" models, you might have noticed an interesting phenomenon. While
using a calculator, you store something in its memory by using the Min key.
You store the number and then you forget about it. The calculator shuts off,
but the number remains in the memory. Later, when you switch on the calculator
and hit the MR key inadvertently, there pops the old number that you had
forgotten! The human mind also tends to forget, or wants to forget, certain
incidents in life, but keeps encountering these MR keys that remind it of those
past events.

The MR phenomenon has been painted vividly in two very simple lines in a filmi
GHazal, and it comes as no surprise that the lyricist is Sahir:

Hum to samjhe thhe ke hum bhool gae hain unko
Kya hua aaj ye kis baat pe rona aaya

(Sher from "Kabhi KHud pe, kabhi haalaat pe rona aaya...")

Majrooh has also come up with some nice lines in the song from Mere Humdum Mere
dost:

Hume to yehi thha GHuroor, GHam-e-yaar hai humse door
