Finally! Here are the answers to the 'Rmim'-Jhim Geeton Ki - 10. It was a very enjoyable experience compiling the quiz and grading all of your responses. A big thank you to everyone who participated and made the quiz an enjoyable one! In the process I myself, discovered a lot of Asha classics [ some not included in this quiz too] and spent many an enthralling hour listening to the 'utaar-chadhaav's in her voice, and watching her give life to the lyricist's pen and the musician's melody. Below is a list of all the participants in the order in which I recieved their entries. My apologies if I have left anyone out. Once again thanks you everyone for participating with such enthusiasm and making the quiz a success! Here goes.. *drumroll* 1. C.S. Sudarshana Bhat 2. Vivek Khandelwal 3. Sandeep Joshi 4. Mani Ganeshan 5. Mahesh Chaubal & Nitin Joshi [ joint entry ] 6. Abhijit Shah 7. Anita Dhir 8. Dinesh Sharma 9. Atul Deshmukh 10. Sangeeta & Amit Rege [ joint entry ] 11. Aniruddha Deglurkar 12. Samiuddin Mohammed 13. Karthik Balakrishnan & Sriram [ joint entry ] 14. Ketan Dholakia 15. Prince Kohli, Jasjit Singh & Ravi [ joint entry ] 16. Charu Varshney 17. Satish Subramanian The fact that the average on the quiz wasn't very high and that there were *four* joint entries made me realize that the quiz was a lot tougher than I thought or expected it to be. Nevertheless, there were a couple of high scorers too. Another thing was the scores on the tie-breakers. 7 of the 17 particpants cracked at least one of the tie-breakers, which was a pretty high number. I did try to be impartial to R.D Burman but eventually ended up with a major chunk of the songs set to music by him. Asha gave some of her most popular and melodious [ not necessarily both ] songs for the 'divine' RD, and I just couldn't help myself. :) Following is the break up of the 30 clues according to the Music Directors of the songs.. 1. Rahul Dev Burman - 14 2. O.P. Nayyar - 4 3. Bappi Lahiri - 2 4. Ravi - 2 5. S.D. Burman - 2 6. Bhupen Hazarika - 1 7. Kalyanji Anandji - 1 8. Khaiyyam - 1 9. Madan Mohan - 1 10. Rajesh Roshan - 1 11. Shankar Jaikishan - 1 Now for the answers to clues. Most of the songs are well-known and familiar to most rmimers, but the choice of lines made them tricky. I have also mentioned the MD of each song along with the clue. Hope you all enjoy these songs as much as I do. They are definitely not a very fair representation of what Asha's voice can do, but most of them are classics for sure. Here we go.. Parentheses have movie names, and square brackets have the number of correct entries out of 17 participants. The Music Director follows on the next line. I have also mentioned the male playback singer in the case of a duet. Comments follow within **'s. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Manzil mohobbat ki ab to kareeb aa gayi --- Raat baaki baat baaqi, hona hai jo, ho jaane do ... (Namak Halal) [ 10 ] MD - Bappi Lahiri Duet : Asha/Bappi Lahiri ** This surprised me cos this is one of Asha's more popular songs, and given the popularity of the film itself, it was unusual that there wasn't a 100% score on this one. 2. Raat beeti saari zaalima main haari tum kya jaano ang ang mera phoonkh gayi chinghari re --- Neend churake raaton mein, tumne baaton baaton mein, dekho baat badal di hai Kishore : Hum phir baat badal denge ... (Shareef Badmash) [ 8 ] MD - R.D. Burman Duet : Asha/Kishore 3. Duniya ki tu parvah na kar muskuraate hue din bitaana --- Zindagi ek safar hai suhaana ... Aaj kal dil aksar machal machal jaaye jabse aayi jawaani bada tadpaaye --- Mausam mastaana rasta anjaana jaane kab kis mod pe ban jaaye ... (Satte Pe Satta) [ 4 ] MD - R.D. Burman Duet : Asha/Kishore 15. Yeh kis maqaam par hayaa mujhko leke aa gayi --- Yeh kya jagah hei doston ... (Umrao Jaan) [ 14 ] MD - Khaiyyam ** I apologize for the mistake in this clue, and thank Vivek Khandelwal for pointing it out. It should be 'hayaat' and not 'hayaa'. Sorry once again for the error. The clue should have been - ' Yeh kis maqaam par hayaat mujhko leke aa gayi '. 16.
