Firstly I would like to thank all the participants, for taking the time and the trouble to take a crack at this quiz. I hope all of you enjoyed participating in this quiz, as much as I had in setting the questions. Secondly, please excuse all typos, as this "post" has been composed in a major hurry, due to pressures of work. I will note below the people who participated in the order of the entries that I received. The ones I have not mentioned have been victims of my mail server. I have added a few more late entries, since they had sent it in before 12 noon EST, but I did not receive them till later. Thus the number of participants is now 33. Srinivas Kadaba Vikas Mittal Vivek Khandelwal Srinath Ekkad Nuts Radhika & Janhavi Ramesh Hariharan & Udit Batra Amit Misra Aniruddh Deglurkar Raj Pradeep Dubey Milind Dawande & Surendra Rajiv Preetham Gopalaswamy Jasjit Singh Sandeep Pagey Charu Varshney Samiuddin Mohammed Deepak Dhamdhere Rekha Ranganathan, Anand & Ajit (the acknowledgment bounced back-twice) Ajay Divekar Ajay Nerurkar Vandana Venkatesan & Satish Subramanian Renu Thamma & Mahesh Chaubal Ashish Bokil Rajesh Bansal Lalitha & Vidya Atul Deshmukh Nitin Joshi Bharat Mitbander Anita Dhir Bharath Kanagal Prince Kohli & Ravi Sandeep Joshi(SanJoe--who sent in his entry at 11:59:21 EST on 7/22 with 39 seconds to spare). Now for the winners. As I had mentioned, the winner would be the person getting the most number of answers correct from the first 23 questions. In the event that more than one person, answered the same number of the first 23 questions, the tie-breaker would be used. Based on this, I have selected the winner, and the other scores are based accordingly. Fourth Place-- This was a tie. Ashish Bokil--22/23 & 0/2 and Vandana Venkatesan & Satish Subramaniam--22/23 & 0/2 Third Place-- Anita Dhir--23/23 & 0/2 In Second place, and with a great performance, we have Ajay Divekar--- 23/23 & 1/2 And the WINNAH, by virtue of TKO, we have---- "Cameras flashing" ANIRUDDH DEGLURKAR who scored a perfect 23/23 + 2/2. Welcome to the SD Burman fan club, with me as CEO, President, Chairperson etc etc. Congratulations. Now for the rest of the winners: Rajan gave me this idea, to group the participants and give them letter grades. The grading would be on the first 23 questions only and would be in the following format, with the participants receiving these "supposed prizes". 23/23 + 2/2 --- Champion-- A bottle of Dom Perignon '58 23/23 -- Glenfiddich Scotch 20-23--Bacardi White 17-19--Remy Martin 14-16-- Bud Light less than 14-- B-. A word about the questions. The choices before me were immense. The sheer volume of movies for which SDB has given music, as well as the number of brilliant songs that he has composed. I could not leave out many great songs, and yet I had too. I did not want to make the quiz easy, yet wanted maximum participation. As regards the first problem, yes, I can definitely set another quiz on SDB, provided people are interested. I have some more great songs by him from movies which were not even included in this quiz. (Will await the public's response). As regards the second problem, I solved it for some songs, by taking the songs from movies which were hits, but were not the greatest hits of those movies. As in Q # 1, this song although very good by itself, definitely pales in comparison to other songs from that movie, and so on and so forth. I also tried to include as many singers as possible and so put in some songs by Talat Mehmood, Manna Dey, and Hemant Kumar, besides the usual KK, Rafi, Lata and Asha. Thirdly, since SDB generally brings Dev Anand to one's mind, I have put in 13 songs from non-Dev Anand movies, as opposed to 12 from Dev Anand movies. As regards the singers, the stats are given below: SD Burman -- 1 Kishore Kumar--6 Mohd. Rafi--3 Lata--4 Asha--2 Manna Dey--1 Hemant Kumar--1 Talat M--1 KK & Lata--2 Rafi & Asha--1 KK & Rafi-- 1 Geeta Dutt--1 KK & Asha--1 Didn't mean to leave Mukesh out. Somehow, since his songs with SDB are few, they would probably have been too easy. Will include him in the next RJGK, if there is going to be one. The answers.
