Most of the intro comes from RJGK 30 by Balaji and Malini. Thanks to Neeraj Malhotra, Balaji, Malini and Vish Krishnan for review/beta-testing of the quiz. Special thanks to Satish and Saba Taqi for helping me with information on the composers included in the quiz. The quiz can be accessed at Satish's excellent website at the following URL: http://www.cs.umn.edu/~subraman/rjgk32.html Thanks to Ashok and Vish there are some corrections in clues #9 (lyrics by Hasrat), #14 (MD is Khemchand Prakash), #22 (change in clue as name of film #14 changes). As a result there aren't any Khurshid Anwar songs in the quiz. The latest correction is in clue #17, thanks to UVR. ______________________________________________________________________________ About RJGK: (For those who came in late) - courtesy Sami's RJGK #23 RJGK or "Rmim"-Jhim Geeton Ki is a regular quiz series on RMIM. Here's an excerpt from the first RJGK which describes it: ______________________________________________________________________________ OK, so here's how the quiz goes: You don't need to name a singer, actor, lyricist, MD etc. All you have to do is to IDENTIFY the song. The clues given below are lines occuring somewhere in the song (not necessarily the opening stanza or the opening line of any other stanza) and some hints about the song. Eg: Clue: "Angana to parbat bhayo, aur dehri bhayi videsh Le babul ghar aapno, mai chali piya ke desh A classic song by K.L. Saigal. The music is by Punkaj Mullick. Ans: This is, as you all must've guessed, part of the song from "Street Singer" Hence the correct answer would be "Babul mora naihar......" ______________________________________________________________________________ It's as simple as that. But remember the golden rule: PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS ON THE NET. E-mail them directly to me at kalyank@sybase.com The deadline for the quiz is July 08th, Monday. ______________________________________________________________________________ ***************************************************************************** RJGK 32 - Bikhre Moti ********************* This RJGK is dedicated to some of those great music directors whose compositions are not so readily available and hence do not have a large number of popular songs. Since there a number of great MD's who would come under this category I've picked some of those MD's of this category who composed in the 40's (and probably later). This makes it possible for the thread to continue in a future RJGK with MD's from a different time period or some other classification. A *NEW* feature of the quiz is the introduction of a NON-COMPETITIVE category. While RJGK by definition is a quiz and hence competitive but I felt it would be nice if a non-competitive category is added. This would particularly be for those who want to participate solely for the fun of participating. The scores of the participants in the non-competitive category won't be mentioned in the results, though they would be included in the list of participants. This should encourage people to participate regardless of what their scores might be. This should also attract people new to RJGK and casual participants who may not be able to devote a lot of time to the quiz. The MD's included in the quiz are: Anil Biswas Ghulam Mohammed Vasant Desai Husnlal Bhagatram Khemchand Prakash Sajjad Hussain Shyam Sunder and Ghulam Haider In the next few weeks I'll be posting information on some of the above composers. Thanks to Satish and Saba Taqi for helping me with the material. This RJGK is simply a tribute to the great masters and is not intended to do justice to the composers. For that matter even a separate RJGK dedicated to each of these legends may not do justice to them. Besides the theme could be expanded upon in future RJGK's and hopefully would include a large number of great composers not included in this quiz. To keep the quiz interesting and easy almost all the songs included are popular and readily available. In addition there are a number of hints for each song making it easier to narrow down the choices. The extracts from the songs are large, include punctuation and in most cases are those preceding the mukhda making it easier to remember the song. Hope you enjoy the quiz. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.
