Message-ID: <1993Nov2.012608.76812@ns1.cc.lehigh.edu> Date: 2 Nov 93 01:26:08 GMT Organization: Lehigh University Lines: 226 RMIM ke bhaio aur baheno, Namaskaar aur Aadaab! Finally, I found the time to "grade" the answers for "Rmim"-Jhim Geeton Ki 5. The results are finally in. After Rajesh Subramanian had dominated the previous 2 R-Js, we have a new winner this time. I wish Rajesh were able to complete a hat-trick, but competition is always healthy in a quiz like this. Read on for details. ****** THE HONOR LIST ****** Before going on to the results, let me thank the following who took part in this quiz and made my efforts fruitful. I just timed myself, and it took me about 90 minutes to grade the quizzes, decide the winner and come up with the statistics included below. I am sure I'll spend atleast another 30 minutes more before this is finally posted on the net. So, thanks a lot guys for making the input worth it. Here's the list of participants arranged in the order in which I received the "final" draft: Preetham Gopalaswamy, Surendra Mohan, Abhay Avachat, Rajesh Subramanian, Umesh Garg, Dinesh Sharma, Sunil Banwari, Srinath, Ramesh Warrier, Vaishali Khedekar, C.S. Sudarshana Bhat (Porky), Anuj Verma, Rajesh Bansal, Charu Varshne and Arati Deo. Among these, my records indicate that the following took part in RJ for the first time: Umesh, Sunil, Srinath, Ramesh, Vaishali, Anuj, Rajesh Bansal and Charu. WELCOME TO the RJ series! As for those who had participated earlier, but could not this time, I'd like to say: "Come back and we'll give you 2 hrs of free calls to any city in India!!" Some restrictions apply: You have to be a US citizen residing in that particular city in India :-) The response was lukewarm compared to the previous RJs and I personally take responsibility for it. In an attempt to cover a broad range (both in terms of singers and netters' tastes), I ended up making the quiz very tough. I received some e-mails from people who said that they enjoyed the quiz but were not participating because it was a bit tough. I hope the future RJs would be more balanced, as we all learn from mistakes. Dinesh also had a good suggestion that we should include a hint (such as the era of a tough song: 50s,60s etc.) for some of the song. We could make the future the future RJs Lata or Mukesh specials, or maybe split the clues into Lata and Mukesh songs...... Someone had shown interest in compiling such a quiz. Please go ahead and do it as I wish to participate in it too! ***** ANSWERS ***** Let's get down to the answers. As usual, my order of difficulty proved to be incorrect. Only Rajesh Subramanian and Charu Varshne followed my order almost perfectly (Thanx :-) ) The answers are listed in the "actual" order of difficulty based on the responses. I do hope someone would come forward and compile RJ6 soon.......Well, its time to get back to my part-time job of doing reasearch (fulltime job is posting on RMIM, of course :-) Sami Mohammed (A Naushad fan)..... who despite all the time spent, enjoyed conducting "Rmim"-Jhim Geeton Ki on RMIM!!
