#14 Song: Aai Biraha Ki Raat Mora Tadape Jiya Mose Ruthe Piya, Koi Man Ka Sahaara Nahin Film: Navdurga (1953) Music: S. N. Tripathi Lyrics: Ramesh Chandra Pandey Singer: Geeta Roy *ing: Usha Kiran, Mahipal, S. N. Tripathi, Sulochana Director: Babubhai Mistri Very nice songs have come usually from many low budget films; particularly in 1950s and some in 60s based on mythology; this one is one glorious example. S. N. Tripathi, has not some but many gems to credit; but not all of them are on the forefront of people's memory now. This song does not have heavy orchestra nor does it have some out-of-the-world rhythm; but simplicity of tune is the key! This song tells us that "vanilla" too can be so beautiful. The poet of this song also requires a special attention. He has penned some excellent-yet-simple lyrics for many songs in 1940s and early 50s. He remains one of my favourite 'shabdakaar' along with Pt. Narendra Sharma, Pt. Kedar Sharma, Kaif Irfani and Shailndra. (More on all of them later).
