#198 Song: Hae Jiya Roye, Hae Jiya Roye Piya Naahi Aa~~~ye, Hae Jiya Roye, Roye .... Film: Milan (1958) Music: Hansraj Behl Lyrics: Prem Dhawan Singer: Lata Mangeshkar *ing: Nalini Jayvant, ? 20th May was this forgotten master's death anniversary. Today's ATMJH is tribute to him from RMIM community. I know a lady, who cries every time she listens to this song; and would still insist to listen to it again and again. What an emotion packed rendition by Lata and what a composition by Hansraj Behl ?! It's mind boggling. The moment Lata's opening alaap vibrates air; ambience become heavy, the air stand still, the grief touches some corner of heart! Each note brings pain with it! I still remember my reaction -- rather nonreaction -- when I sat to listen to a cassette I had just brought from recording room of one professional recordist in Vadodara, and player played this song towards the end. No, it wasn't in my list; but I was too happy to have this gem as gift from recordist. After a while, when I came out of my "musical-meditation", I heard my father telling me: 'That was Milan!' He too, was glad to hear it after a long time. I couldn't believe, for I knew only one Milan (1967) and knew Laxmikant Pyarelal's output too well :). Then he clarified 'Not that Milan, this one was a decade older.' He couldn't forget a Nalini Jayvant movie; and there were reasons. Film has one -- equally great -- Lata solo: Saari Duniya Se Puchha, Milaa Na Nishaan Chup Rahi Ye Zameen, Chup Rahaa Aasmaan
