#204 Song: Hun Abhi Main Jawaan Ai Dil Film: Arpaar (1959) Music: O P Nayyar Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri Singer: Geeta Roy *ing: Guru Dutt, Shyama, Johny Walker I always wonder listening to this one, if this song could be any better ? What a rendition by this supreme singer! Sensuousness and pathos both being expressed at a time! This is my favourite number from this great soundtrack. Guru Dutt films have seldom disappointed music lovers. This film has Geeta all over. 'Ye Lo Main Hari Piya' is still popular among "janta'. Magic of O P Nayyar's catchy tunes and Geeta's unmatched voice have created wonders and their creations are just refusing to get lost from otherwise weak public memories. Who can forget crispness of 'Babuji Dhire Chana' or that delicate number 'Ja Ja Ja Ja Bewafa' ? This second number has some lovely piano pieces. If Naushad, Anil Biswas etc. are remembered for their classy use of piano, one can not leave O P Nayyar out from that list. [ 'Meri Neendo Me Tum' is classic example ]. Rafi and Geeta gave three beautiful duets: 1) 'Muhobat Kar Lo Jee Bhar Lo' and 2) 'Na Na Na Na Tauba Tauba, Main Na Pyaar Karungi' and 3) 'Sun Sun Sun Zalima' Finally, there was this Shamshad Begum solo, which just by rule O P Nayyar used to have in his films, and this time a title number: 'Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar Laga Teer-E-Nazar'. Sometimes, I feel she was such a beautiful singer and was not quite utilised as well as Lata. May be she came at time when Mallika-E-Tarannum was around and she couldn't have probably done more.
