#237 Song: Agar Dil Ke Taaron Par, Main Chhed Sakataa Nai Zindagi Ka Naya Sa Taraana ... Film: Ratnadeep (1952) Music: Robin Chatterjee Lyrics: Kaif Irfani [*] Singer: Talat Mehmood *ing: ? Source: Talat Mehmood -- Rare Melodies [HMV] This one is one of the best Talat songs, I have ever heard. Very touching words and extremely good singing by Talat are but bonus, to beautifully composed tune. I was searching for this song for long-long time. It was ended by HMV release as mentioned above. HMV claims that all 30 songs have never been released before on any tape (EP,S7,LP,Cassette,CD). The quality of recording is obviously not excellent for hiss of 78 rpm recordings is audible; but even with it, it's a great compilation. So much so, it includes 'Abhimaan Ko Mere Chur Karo' from Swami Vivekanand (1953?) composed by R C Boral? -- a song that I have heard only once on radio in SLBC's Bhule Bisre Geet programme! [Those who don't know what Bhule Bisre Geet of SLBC is, may think it as a similar to Vividh Bharati's Bhule Bisre Geet. But no, Vividh Bharati's is not a Bhule Bisre Geet in reality, it's just a programme on popular old songs] The music director, I believe was Anil Biswas's recordist [#]. I have heard two or three songs composed by him and all are great composition. I guess, he is the only composer who brought Talat and Meena Kapoor in recording room together. [*] Finally, the lyricist of this song is not known. Neither SLBC, nor HMV talks about it. Kaif Irfani is my guess, for his other songs (known to me) are by him. [#] This is going by an article that Neha Desai posted recently on Meena Kapoor- Anil Biswas. I believe that person referred to there in as Robin Chatterjee is same as this music director.
