5th September 1997 will go in history books, as the world lost a
caring and loving Mother -- Mother Teresa -- a messenger of God.
Today's ATMJH is dedicated to her. I have selected a song, that
will remind anyone of his/her mother, without fail, at any time;
thinking it appropriate to remember this Mother to whole mankind:
#251
Song: Aaja Ri Aa, Nindiyaa Tu Aa
Zilmil Sitaron Se Utar, Sapne Sajaa ....
Film: Do Bigha Zameen (1953)
Music: Salil Chowhury
Lyrics: Shailendra
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Balraj Sahani, ?
This one is acclaimed as one the best 'lori' in films (after
Saigal's 'Soja Rajkumari' and Ramchandra Chitalkar's 'Dhire Se
Aaja Ri'). I must admit that the feelings this Shailendra poem
evokes is unparallel and can't be described in any words. A very
sweet and divine touch given by Lataji, makes it heavenly song.
One should also notice, that Salilda -- although himself being
fond of western music and orchestra -- employs very light-gentle
orchestra. Very thought -ful thing indeed. Flute pieces are
lovely.
It's just a coincident that I chose this song, for today's
Salilda's anniversary too!
