Today's P L Santoshi's death anniversary. Many may not know  him;
but  would  certainly  know  his  son, producer-director Rajkumar
Santoshi. Santoshi (Sr) was not only a song writer but was also a
known  producer.  I suppose, he made films based on light comedy.
He has also written many songs for his films using  some  'anokhe
bol' (Copyright SLBC).

This song is an example of his good poetry and also of  chemistry
between  him  and  Lata and Ramchandra Chitalkar. I don't seem to
recall any other song, which is so famous, but not  the  film  in
which  it  was  used.  C  Ramchandra  has  set a very mellow tune
associating 'karuN ras' with each note. Latabai does a great  job
bringing  pathos  out.  I also like saarangi and dilruba notes in
the interludes.
