Unsung Musicians - 8 #274 Song: Zindagaani Se Sahaare Laut Aa, Zindagaani Ke Sahaare Laut Aa Mera Har Aansoo Pukaare Laut Aa, Zindagaani Ke Sahaare Laut Aa Film: Saloni (1952) Music: Basant Prakash Lyrics: Raja Mehndi Ali Khan Singer: Lata Mangeshkar *ing: ? Basant Prakash is more known as younger brother of Khemchand Prakash than as a music director. I rate this soundtrack as his best. He also composed Badnaam in this same year - 1952. His other notable film was Jyot Jale. Well coming to today's ATMJH: It's a piano based song. To give you an idea of it's structure, I can equate it with other Lata solo from Daag (1952) -- 'Kaahe Ko Der Lagaayi Re'. As with the Daag song, this number too is also having a couplet before the song. But I am yet to find a recording with that couplet. Song is touching melody. At the end of first line (of the two in a stanza) Basant Prakash uses a pleasing and mellow piano piece. That actually is very clever use, for that alone helps bring song back on sum! The first line is sung slow but brings the entire beauty out by some superb "swar-andolan" in gaayaki. Second line of the stanza is sung in the tune of mukhada to end the antaraa. This follows interlude consisting of some string instrument (clarinet?) and sitar, which itself is too good to glue anyone. I consider this song to be Lata-Basant Prakash masterpiece - a great sentimental score.
