Our tribute to Madhubala continues with one more of her  'bhooli-
bisre  geet',  from  one  of her equally bhooli-bisri, but rather
charming movies...

#311
Song:   Chhum Chhuma Chhum Paayal Baaje
                Naache Mera Man
                Chanda Se Gawaahi Le Le
                Tu Mera Saajan

        Film:   Rail ka Dibba (1953)
        Music:  Ghulam Mohammed
        Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni
        Singer: Shamshad Begum
        *ing:   Madhubala, Shammi Kapoor, Sajjan

Ok, so I'm not overly crazy about Shamshad Begum's  singing,  but
this (and another solo from the same movie) are a couple of those
songs that keep me  going  to  the  Rewind  button.  No,  there's
nothing  extraordinary  or  exceptional  in  it  -  it's  a pure,
melodious, trademark Ghulam Mohammed tune.. but there's something
really   endearing   about  it,  atleast  for  me-  possibly  the
combination  of  the  lovely,  lilting  rhythm,  the  words,  the
situation in the movie, etc.

The other Shamshad solo I referred to goes :
        'Paapi duniya se door
         Aao chale ji huzoor
         Yahaan jeena hai qusoor
         Koi kya jiye'
... also a wonderful track, picturized, again, on Madhubala.

IMHO, this is an unusual actress/vocalist  combination.  I  can't
remember  too  many movies in which Shamshad has been Madhubala's
voice- Rail ka Dibba, in fact, is the only one  that  springs  to
mind.  An  interesting  fact-  Rail ka Dibba was the FIRST Shammi
Kapoor movie to be released- its worth seeing it  just  to  watch
him in his thin, gawky, pre-Yahoo avataar.

I think the  Shamshad/Ghulam Mohammed duo really hit it off well-
they've  given  us  a lot of memorable tunes... especially in the
late 40s, early 50s.

(Aside: If anyone knows ANYTHING about the availability of this
movie soundtrack on audio, PLEASE let me know !!)
