Song: Chhoti Si Yeh Zindagaani Re
Chaar Din Ki Jawaani Teri
Haaye Re Haaye
Gham Ki Kahaani Teri
Film: Aah (1953)
Music: Shankar Jaikishen
Lyrics: Shailendra
Singer: Mukesh
*ing: Raj Kapoor, Nargis
Raj Kapoor sometimes liked to cast non-acting members of his crew
in short cameo roles in his films (Jaikishen, for instance, had a
small 5/6-minute role in Shree 420). This song is another
instance of that. One of Mukesh's (IMHO) best renditions, this
song, set beautifully to rhythm on a running horse's hoofbeats
(rather OPN-esque, huh?), features Mukesh himself as a
tongawallah, carting an ailing Raj Kapoor to (somewhere- I forget
where).
I would rank this as the best song in the movie (just my opinion)
- in addition to its great tune and rhythm, it's got some rather
philosophical words too, and they come at a critical juncture in
the movie.
A must for Mukesh fans...
