Song: Humse aaya na gaya
Tumse bulaaya na gaya
Faasla pyaar mein
Donon se mitaaya na gaya
Film: Dekh Kabira Roya (1957)
Singer: Talat Mahmood
Music: Madan Mohan
Lyrics: Rajendra Krishan
*ing: Anoop Kumar, Shubha Khote, Ameeta
What can I say about this one.. IMO it's one of Talat's (and
Madan Mohan's) most gorgeous melodies. This entire movie has got
some of Madan Mohan's most memorable compositions picturized on
some of filmdom's least popular faces. This one, for instance,
has a crooning Anoop Kumar gazing longingly into the enraptured
eyes of Shubha Khote (??). Each of the movie's three heroes
(Anoop Kumar, xyz and abc- forgot the other two) and each of
their respective heroines (Shubha Khote, Ameeta and Anita Guha)
has atleast one song apiece, each one a classic (e.g. Lata's
wonderful 'Tu pyaar kare ya thukraaye' filmed on Shubha Khote).
This remains one of my favorite Talat melodies of all time - it
decisively underlines Madan Mohan's ascendancy as the uncrowned
king of the ghazal. Not to mention the fact that it features some
truly beautiful poetry by Rajendra Krishan.
(I know there is a plethora of other peerless classics in this
movie which I haven't mentioned in this post- I'm saving them up
for future ATMJHs).
