#338 Song: Gore gore haathon mein mehndi rachaake Nainon mein kajra daal ke Chalo dulhaniya piya se milne Chhota sa ghunghat nikaal ke Film: Parineeta (1953) Singer: Asha Bhosle, chorus Music: Aroon Kumar Lyrics: Bharat Vyas *ing: Ashok Kumar, Meena Kumari And we close our Asha series with one of her loveliest songs from her early years. Before anything, I'd just like to say that I'm aware there are a LOT of Asha beauties from the 50s which I haven't included in the series- the intention was not to undermine any of them- I just wanted to post a few representative (and some not-so-popular-but-still-beautiful) songs that I personally like a lot. (Just stating this disclaimer to stem offended emails for not having included so-and-so song.) :-) This one is a winner, with a charming picturization - IIRC, a gudiya-ki-shaadi' (doll's wedding). Personally, I could have done with a little less of the chorus and more of Asha, but whatever it may be, the song is quite enchanting, atleast for me. One of the things I find very, to coin a phrase, rewind-able, in this song is the way the antaraas return to the mukhda - especially the percussion instruments. There is one more slow, mellow Asha melody in this movie ('Tum yaad aa rahe') which I like a lot. I don't quite remember its picturization, though.
