        Song:   Is bewafaa jahaan mein
                Wafaa dhoondhte rahey
                Nadaan the kitne hum bhi
                Yeh kya dhoondhte rahey

        Film:   Aasmaan (1952)
        Music:  O P Nayyar
        Lyrics: Prem Dhawan
        Singer: C H Atma

One of OPN's really old ones..  a  restrained,  softly  caressing
melody  delivered  beautifully  by  C  H  Atma,  in the customary
Saigal-esque vein that was the norm of the day. It is  a  notable
track  in  that  it  sounds like anything but an OPN tune - slow,
plaintive vocals, minimal background instrumentation..  its  more
like a Husnlal-Bhagatram/Ghulam Mohammed composition, IMO.

It's a lovely piece of music, though. I like the  soft  'wafting'
effect  of the song- it sort of permeates into your senses (if it
makes sense). It almost forces the listener to empathize with its
resignation  at  the  futility of life, if not actually deal with
it.

Ok, now _that_ sure made no sense... lemme sign  off  before  the
onset  of  consummate  incoherence (darn, it's tough to verbalize
music !) All I'll say is, this is the stuff sad  tunes  are  made
of.

PS As always, O Omniscient Ones, please plug in the blanks
   - the star cast in this case.
