Song:   Yeh shokh sitaare karte hain ishaare
Aa baith ke do chaar ghadi pyaar karen
Yeh raat jawaan hai rangiin samaa hai
Aese mein sanam pyaar ka iqraar karen

        Film:   Hamaara Watan (1956)
        Singer: Hemant Kumar, Asha Bhosle
        Music:  Hemant Kumar
        Lyrics: Ravi
        *ing:   Premnath, Bina Rai

I haven't seen this song's picturization,  but  if  it's  general
mood  is  any indicator, it would seem that the key players in it
are not doing much more than gazing affectionately at each  other
on a starry night while crooning this softly haunting melody. For
those who have seen it, is that anywhere close ?

It almost breathes  a  halcyon  ambience...  a  sort  of  pacific
stillness that any kind of motion would destroy... and a big part
of  the  credit  for  that  goes  to  Hemantda's  extraordinarily
delicate rendition. Which, I might add, is matched by Asha at her
sweetest, softest best, especially in the humming. This is a duet
that leaves nothing to be desired... truly beautiful.

I didn't know Ravi was also a lyricist, if it indeed be the  same
Ravi...two  of  my  recent  Hemantda  favorites seem to have been
penned by him (this one, and "ulajh gaye do naina dekho..."  from
'Ek Saal', another profoundly haunting track).
