Song:   Teri duniya mein dil lagtaa nahin
Waapas bulaale main sajde mein giraa huun
                Mujhko ae maalik uthaa le

        Film:   Bawre Nain (1950)
        Singer: Mukesh
        Music:  Roshan
        Lyrics: Kidar Sharma
        *ing:   Raj Kapoor, Geeta Bali

A song with a special significance for me... this  was  the  tune
through  which  I  "discovered" Mukesh, almost 15 years. Also the
song was  singularly  responsible  for  ruining  my  best  Mukesh
compilation ever... I listened to this song over and over so many
times, I decimated the Sony C90 tape that contained it :-(

The depth and intensity of emotion, the "dard" that comes  across
in  this  magnificent  rendition by Mukesh is by far the greatest
asset of this timeless melody. I'm always amused by the  the  way
this  tune  stays implicitly faithful to the words, at times very
literally- with the "..sajde mein giraa huun" the  tune  actually
descends  into  some  very  low notes, and then rises reluctantly
with ".. ae maalik uthaa le".  Mukesh always sounded glorious  in
slow   moving,  low-scale  tunes,  and  with  the  deep,  soulful
resonance in this early voice of his, well...
