A beautiful devotional piece from Anilda today, from a movie
that was
funded, I think partially by the Government of Thailand
in celebration of
Buddha's 2000th (?) anniversary. The movie features a whole
gamut of
playback voices - Asha, Lata, Manna Dey (the recurrent "Buddham
Sharanam
Gachchaami") and a host of others. This would be one of
my top two
favorites from this movie. A warm, fluid tune, and Asha
sounds marvellous.
Which brings me to the OTHER favorite - a slow, almost cloyingly
sweet
lorii - "dhiire dhiire dhal re chandaa", where Nimmi is
trying to
put B.Bhushan (who's just fought and killed a lion, IIRC)
to sleep.
It's in an undefined voice, though... couldn't identify
the singer. Is
it Aarti Mukherjee ? Does anyone know who it is (geet-kosh
owners) ?
I'd really like to know, because it is a very endearing
voice.
I've discovered quite a few lesser-known Asha beauties recently,
so
I'll spend the next few posts on these.
BTW, A very happy new year, all !
