Today I am taking a break from a rain-song series within ATMJH.
It will be back from next post, that is #43. The reason: Death
anniversary of one of the most respected music director, Madan
Mohan.

#42
Song: Hamare Baad Ab Mehfil Me Afsaane Bayaan Honge
Bahaaren Ham Ko Dhhudhhengi (2), Na Jaane Ham
Kahan Honge

        Film: Baagi (1953)
        Music: Madan Mohan
        Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri
        Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Naseem Bano, Ranjan, Shammi Kapoor, Pran

To me, Madan Mohan is first the 'ruler-of-heart' and then
'gazal-samtraat'. Lataji had once said that, Madan Mohan himself
used to start crying while composing certain tunes. It's no
wonder then, that his compositions are so rich with very delicate
musical pieces, evoking sentiments with ease. Just take example
of this song, or the other gem from this film, 'Kar Ke Badnaam
Meri Neende Haram Kahan Chala Gaya'. How easily they enter into
your world of emotions/feelings! Each movement of every
instruments in these songs; be it a sarangi, be it a dilruba or a
bank of violins; conquers you and your imaginations. That's the
power of his music and hence I chose to call as I do above. The
other glaring example of this technique of his is 'Aja Kahin Se
Aja' from Samundar (1957) - a masterpiece. I see different
musician in Madan Mohan after 1959. That does not mean I don't
like that one; but technicality he indeed changed. He now emerges
as his well known status of 'gazal-king'. His style, changes too.
I will come with his songs of a stamp his former style from 1959
later sometime to prove this. (After that his output is known
well, as it's available widely.)
