A farmaayishi-ATMJH today, again quite belated... sorry Neha,
and thanks for
bringing this gem to attention. HMV, in their over-zealousness
to coerce
three soundtracks (Parchhain, Jaagriti and Shin Shinaki Bubla
Bu) onto one
CD, subtracted some numbers from each with a "Selected
Tracks" disclaimer,
and this one got axed from Parchhain. Going by the soundtrack,
though, there
is really no single song that lends itself for this sacrifice
I don't think the concept of the 'ultimate' pacific song exists
unequivocally, but if one does, this beautiful duet approaches
it
asymptotically. A masterpiece of musical structure and composition.
This duet
actually provides a delightful arena to speculate on it's
situation,
picturization, etc. Here's my take on it : I feel the slow,
almost soporific
mood of the song creates an illusion of an evanescent bliss
; an unassuming
expression of something so delicately joyous that any more
audible a
proclamation would actually destroy it. To map it visually,
I'd postulate a
hazy, silhouetted canvas, a still water-body as the backdrop,
probably a ray
of light from the north-east and the key players engaged
in a gazing contest.
The type mismatch occurs when you try to fill in the facial
blanks with
Shantaram and Sandhya.
One unique facet of this song is some beautifully coordinated
vocals in split
scales, flawlessly executed by Lata and Talat. Haven't seen
this technique in
too many tunes (one that springs to mind is the lovely Salilda
Lata-chorus
number from Aawaaz "dhitang dhitang boley", based on a Bengali
original), but
the effect it creates is simply magical.
With that, I notch Parchhain as CR's best for me. In relational
format :
Anilda:Aaram::CR:Parchhain (deal with it, Anant :-))
