Song: hindustaan
ke hum hai, hindustaan hamara
hindu muslim dono ka aankhon ka tara
Film: Pehle
Aap (1942)
Singer: Mohammed Rafi,
chorus
Music: Naushad
Lyrics: ?
*ing: ?
This song is arguably the first song of Mohd. Rafi. As Naushad observed
in one of the radio interviews, Rafi had come to him with a
recommendation, trying to get a break into Hindi Films. Naushad
gave
him the break in the song, which featured many prominent voices
of the
time. However, it was Rafi, whose voice became the most noticable
at
the end of it, marking the beginning of a new era.
This is a beautiful number and a must for any music lover. The blood
of
patriotism oozes out in the words of the song like, "Sab jag se
achha,
sab jag se pyara, Ganga Jamuna bahe jahan woh Bharat pyara". Especially
in these steps you notice the voice of Rafi the most.
The music is relatively simple, with the use of very less number
of
instruments, and come to think of it, was it always not the case
with
Naushad? The most charming part of the song is the prelude, which
is
like making aelan-e-jung, or the announcement for the arrival of
the
king. And I believe, it was making the announcement of the arrival
of
the king of Indian Music. I treasure this song and I present
this song
to all the brave soldiers fighting at the front.
