Song: kahaan
chhod ke chalaa hai tu ye phoolon bhari raahen
mere des ki hawaayen, pardesiya
zara mud ke to dekh khoyi khoyi ye nigaahen
meri thandi thandi aahen, pardesiya
ho, kahaan chhod ke chalaa hai...
Film: Anjaan
(1956)
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
Music: Hemant
Kumar
Lyrics: ?
*ing: Pradeep
Kumar, Vyjayantimala
Since Hemantda's death anniversary passed on Sept 26, here is a
tribute
to this gentle composer & singer; one of his signature melodies,
sung
beautifully by...
Anjaan was a prized find in terms of song quality. Every song breathes
Hemantda in every note- his trademark simplicity and all-pervasive
sweetness abound in every track of this soundtrack. Today's selection
is my favorite Lata solo in this film (and there are some). The
softly
swaying rhythm that is inherently ingrained in the tune itself
almost
makes it redundant to have percussion instruments... the rendition
itself provides it. The words, at first seem to suggest a sad,
farewell-
type situation for the song in the movie, but if I remember correctly,
it is actually a happy tune, with Vyjayantimala waltzing gracefully
to
the restrained cadences of the song, imploring Pradeep K to stay.
A lovely, pacific tune.
My other favorite in this film is the Hemantda solo "chandaniya
nadiya
beech nahaaye", another vintage Hemantda composition sung by himself.
