Song: Zirzir Zirzir Badara Barase, Ho Kare Kare, Zirzir
Zirzir
Soye Armaan Jage, Kai Tufaan Jage, Barakha Na
Bhaye Mohe? Piya?
Film: Parivar (1956)
Music: Salil Chowdhury
Lyrics: Shailendra
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar, Hemant Kumar
*ing: Usha Kiran, Kishor Kumar, Jairaj
What possibly could have been better than Hemant Kumar singing a
rain song? His voice with some bass and at higher pitch, provides
the best possible voice for this type of song. All Lata-Hemant
songs couldn't have been so attractive but for his voice. This
song carries a stamp of Salil Chowdhary's music. No major
orchestration making any undue noise lets you enjoy the song.
The only other song of the film I know is Manna De, Lata
Mangeshkar duet:
'Ja Tose Nahi Bolun Kanhaiya
Rah Chalat Pakadi Mori Baiyan'
Lata Mangeshkar's aalap's are an asset of this song. Though
small, they show a good display of her control over voice and
notes. Manna De sounds very gentle and his masterly control at
bending the voice is known anyway! And this song is no exception.
Well, this was the first round of rain songs. We will take a
break from next post onwards for a week. Then we will have
another short round of rain songs again. From tomorrow I will be
posting some old gems of Mohammad Rafi, the most successful male
singer of our hindi cinema world, so far.
