I can't recall hearing or seeing this song in the movie. A pity, because it would have sent a much welcome upbeat breeze into this rampant picture of melancholia from Zia Sarhadi. 'shaam-e-gham ki qasam', in all its splendor, has unfortunately eclipsed a lot of wonderful musical offerings in this movie - mostly a lovely batch of Asha solos - "kaisa jaadu daala re", "piya aaja re dil mera pukaare" and the gentle "soja mere pyaare soja soja" lori, all picturized on a young an angelic Meena Kumari.
This song shares its mood and sentiment with quite a few kindred
melodies in HFM ('saanvle salone aye din...', 'raahi matvaale', to name
a couple) - everything's happy inside, everything's happy outside - like
the oft-repeated lines from Browning - 'the lark is on the wing, the snail
is on the thorn..' etc. (which I think I have already included in an earlier
ATMJH). Great tune.
