#53 Song: Hum Tum Ye Bahar, Dekho Rang Laya Pyar, Barsat Ke Mahine Me Rimzim Ye Fuhar Dil Gaaye Ye Malhaar, Ik Aag Liye Sine Me Film: Ambar (1952) Music: Gulam Mohammad Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni Singer: Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar *ing: Raj Kapoor, Nargis Today, I am revisiting rain songs again. This second round will last for very short period though. I thought it good to start with this Rafi duet, after that one week on Rafi songs. This song is good enough to make you dance! Musically, it's not very great (orchestral part), but rhythm is fabulous. The song ends with Rafi singing some strange words. Sounds really good. Interestingly the same is used at the beginning of one other song of the film, this time a Rafi solo. It's 'Chale Jana Tum Dur Bade Shauk Se Huzur; Par Mera Dil Muze Waapas Kar Do'. Nice solo. It's no tear-shedding affair though. It's a light number. This film has had three Rafi-Lata duets: I will include one more here (leaving other one for later time to appear as ATMJH #???): Shama Jali Parwaana Aya, Shama Jali All duets are very good and were popular then. Lata has sung some very good solos too: 'Tutegi Na Pyaar Ki Dor Duniya Chahe Lagale Zor Dil Ki Baat Bataun Sajan Dil Baat Bataaun' A breath-taking number. Then there is 'Dil Deke Tumhe Pachhataaye Sanam',; an excellent song. Soft and very melodious. There are more which we will touch sometime later.
