_______________________________________________________________________________ Some facts on Kumar Sanu from an article in INDIA CURRENTS advertising Kumar Sanu & Alka Yagnik's concert in the bay area. 1. He has sung in over 500 films. 2. He has a Guinness book entry for recording an amazing 28 songs in a day. 3. He received his early training under his father Pashupatinath Bhattacharya. 4. He got his first break when gazal maestro invited him to sing for the film AANDHIYAAN. [Does anybody have more information on this?] 5. However, he was really discovered when he sang for Amitabh in Jaadugar. 6. His first hit was Aashiqui and he got a filmfare award for it. 7. In a interview he said: "I have specially enjoyed working with R. D. Burmanji. He made me sing the best that I could. When I was working with him in 1942: ALS, he would say, `Sanu, this is your song, you decide how to sing it.' It inspired me and I think I sang like never before." 8. He has won filmfare award five times [Aashiqui, Saajan, Deewaana, Baazigar & 1942; ALS] and this is a record. No actor, music director or singer has received it five times in a row. "I have now declared that I will not accept any more awards." he says. [Does that mean he has put himself in the same league as Lata Mangeshkar?] -----------------------------------------------------------------
