			  Khemchand Prakash

He was born in Jaipur.  His father, Pt. Govardhan Prasad, was the
court singer in the Jaipur Palace.  Khemchand Prakash himself was
appointment at the age of 19 to as court singer by the Maharaja of
Bikaner. He also served under the royalty of Nepal. He also learnt
Kathak when he was young.

He was a radio artiste for a few year in Calcutta. He worked with
Timir Baran at New Theatres for a while. He sang a few songs in films
before he became a full-fledged music director. He is associated
mainly with Ranjit Studio which he joined in 1940 and where he scored
music for Kardar (in "Holi" and "Pagal"), Jayant Desai's Saigal film
"Tansen" (with Bulo C Rani), and some Kidar Sharma films ("Gauri",
"Vish Kanya" and "Bhanwara").

Bulo C Rani was assistant to Khemchand Prakash, and he is also
credited, along with Khemchand, for a few songs of Saigal's famous
"Tansen". Music director Basant Prakash was Khemchand's brother.

Khemchand passed away in 1950, not able to witness the fame of his
"Mahal", which had Lata's milestone song "aayega aayega aanewala".
His company's last production was "Tamasha".
