Here is a song that defies criticism. The singing, the orchestration, the lyrics come together perfectly to create a breath-taking marvel. Like so many of the Jaidev's compositions, it beggars description.

All recordings I have heard are missing the first stanza of this song, which goes:
is dharatii kaa ruup naa uja.De
pyaar kii ThaNDii dhuup naa uja.De
sabako mile, daataa, sabako mile
sukh kaa varadaan
sabako sanmatii de bhagavaan
allaah tero naam, iish{}var tero naam
According to Satish Kalra, this stanza and "o saare jag ke rakhavaale" are in the movie. The 78 RPM recording omitted this stanza, replacing it with "maa.Ngo.n kaa si.nduur naa chhuuTe." In the past, the limitation of a 78 RPM recording to three minutes often led to stanzas being omitted from the audio version of a song, so such variations between the filmed version and the recorded version of songs are fairly common.
