When I was working on the notorious RJGK-28 on obscure music directors, one of the things I did was to check out the ISB to see how many clues enterprising RMIMers would be able to crack that way. What surprised me (and increased my respect for ISB all the more) was finding the following gem of a ghazal there by an anonymous contributor:Film: Pyaar ki Raahen (1959)
Singer: Mukesh
Music: Kanu Ghosh
Lyrics: Prem Dhawan
ISB Contributor:
do roz me.n vo pyaar kaa aalam guzar gayaa
barabaad karane aayaa thaa barabaad kar gayaa
do roz me.n ...leke sahaaraa yaad kaa kab tak koii jiye \- 2
ai maut aa ke zindagii se dil hii bhar gayaa
dil hii bhar gayaa
do roz me.n ...siine me jab kisiike dha.Dakataa thaa dil meraa \- 2
vo din kahaa.n gae vo zamaanaa kidhar gayaa
zamaanaa kidhar gayaa
do roz me.n ...
I had another surprise waiting for me as I went through the lyrics. I had never heard the stanza "seene me.n jab .." while the one that I remembered from my radio days as the first stanza was missing:
bas itanii sii hai daastaa.n bachapan ke pyaar kii \-2
do phuul khilate khilate hii gulashan uja.D gayaa
gulashan uja.D gayaa
do roz me.n ...
